We teach and host classes at our shop through Burleson ISD in spring, summer, and fall. Historically, we've offered the classes listed below.
Class Descriptions:
Hands on class in basic forging skills. All students must have safety glasses and gloves. Anvil, tools, materials, and forge are provided. Each student will forge an item for their own use.
An introductory class covering the principles of maintaining healthy feet on the domesticated horse; effective methods of hygiene; a survey of the tools used to employ those methods; and the most common problems we see and treat through the farrier service.
A reoccurring class covering: the anatomy and mechanism of the healthy hoof; the practice of the proper methods of cleaning the hoof; and correct use of the tools of management. This course emphasizes how to recognize commonly occurring pathologies and how to treat those that are manageable by the owner, and when an issue necessitates .
Horse conformation and performance appraisal. An introduction to equine science and horse judging for those interested in horses, their form and function. Course will focus on a foundation of sound equine evaluation practices and will provide a general overview of the process to become an approved horse show judge.
